Guilty Pleasures

Are you willing to share what your guilty pleasures are with me (and whoever stumbles upon my blog)?

I think comic books would be considered a guilty pleasure of mine, but really… all of my kids know that I love comic books. And they know that when I go to Barnes and Nobles or Borders, I’d sit there enjoying a couple of graphic novels.

But I think my biggest guilty pleasure is professional wrestling.
Every Monday, my DVR is set to record WWE’s Monday Night Raw. When my wife was finishing seminary and I was in Hawaii living with my parents, I’d secretly watch Raw, because if my dad caught me, he wouldn’t believe that his oldest son, seminary graduate and a youth pastor would still watch something like wrestling. My wife doesn’t understand either. But when Raw is on, she retreats to our bedroom to read and leaves me to watch half naked guys beat each other.
I’ve always liked wrestling, and I think I may always will. Last week Chris Jericho came back… and I was genuinely excited. It’s sad.

But I do like these mindless, entertaining things that keeps my mind off of ministry. And since Mondays are my days off, I couldn’t ask for more mindless things than Monday Night Football followed by Monday Night Raw.

Guilty pleasure, eh? Have to be videogames, especially the more questionable ones like American McGee’s Alice or Doom 3. Questionable only because my wife doesn’t approve and I’m pretty sure the church doesn’t either…then again, it was the drummer on the worship team (on which I play bass) who gave me his copy of Alice.

    Interesting read.

    Hahaha.
    Thanks Aaron.
I love videogames too. I usually play sports stuff… but Grand Theft Auto is fun, and I know for a fact my youth parents would not approve.

    thanks for the comment.

Ha, ha, Lance called me downstairs last week by yelling, “Look who’s back!” Although I like Y2J, I admit I was a little disappointed. I thought Lance was calling me downstairs to see the reappearance of The Rock.
