Monday Morning Update (Tuesday Edition)

the weekend that was: Tiring and draining. I absolutely love our new Saturday evening service. We need to just get the word out to our family and friends and have them come and experience worship with us. I love the informality. I love the intimacy. I love preaching from a stool while sitting down. I love the talk-back session. It’s a great time for the few of us that gather in worship, so much so, I wouldn’t mind if we stay about this size forever. Although, the leadership of the church might not see it that way.

where i am at the moment: I am about to leave the office to have lunch with a group of siblings from the youth. Looking forward to it. Maybe we’ll go to In n Out. Ooh. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

on my to-do list this week: Enjoy time with my wife! It’s Thanksgiving week. She’s pretty much working all day. She picked up someone’s night shift at the shelter, so she’ working from 2pm Thursday to 10am Friday. I’m going to go to the shelter to help her make and serve dinner. Thanksgiving has never been a real big thing in either of our households growing up. So it was no biggie for her to fill in.

procrastinating about: Haven’t started my sermon preparations. I think it’s going to be called something like, the revolution of wrecking lives, or Jesus Wrecked My LIfe… or something like that.

book i’m in the midst of: Still re-reading Your First Two Years in Youth Ministry by Doug Fields. I also borrowed God’s Politics by Jim Wallis.

media that seemed to catch my attention this past week: Just upset that Pushing Daises and Eli Stone are going to get canceled.

how i’m feeling about this week: relaxed. And thankful. Very thankful.
