After Sunday service, as the pastor was walking around, he saw Johnny, one of the Sunday school students.
For no particular reason, the pastor just wanted to ask Johnny a question about the Bible.
So he walks up to Johnny, and with a smile asks,
“Johnny, do you know who brought down the walls of Jericho?”
Johnny with fear in his eyes looked at the pastor and said,
“Pastor, I promise! I had nothing to do with it! I didn’t break anything! I promise!”
Shocked and a bit worried at Johnny’s response, the pastor went to the Sunday school classroom to see if Johnny’s teacher was still at the church.
When he sees her, he asked, “You know, I just asked Johnny if he knew who brought down the walls of Jericho, and he looked at me and swore that it wasn’t him. What do you make of this?”
The Sunday school teacher replied, “Johnny’s an outstanding kid. I certain that if Johnny said he didn’t do it, he definitely didn’t do it.”
The pastor, now, really worried about the Sunday school program decided that he’ll bring this up at the SPRC meeting coming up later in the week.
At the meeting, he said “This past Sunday, I asked Johnny if he knew who brought down the walls of Jericho and he swore that it wasn’t him. I asked Johnny’s teacher about Johnny’s reply and she said that if Johnny said he didn’t do it, then Johnny definitely didn’t do it. What do you think we should do about this situation?”
The SPRC chairperson spoke up and said,
“Well, who ever broke that wall, I’m sure that we have enough money for the Trustees to fix it!”
