I stopped by Westmont to visit my former youth pastor Doug for the latest episode of Into the Wilderness.
Doug has always been one of my favorite people in the world and someone who is responsible of the person I am and becoming. He was a vital part of my faith formation at the time where I was probably the most impressionable. And in my early days of youth ministry — when I had no idea of what I was doing (different to today, where I have no idea what I’m doing…) I replicated all the things Doug did with us as a youth group.
When I moved back to Santa Barbara, now as the pastor of church where I attended youth group, the first thing I did was look up Doug to see if he was still alive. Because he’s very old. Kidding. He’s not that old. It’s always great catching up to Doug whether there’s a microphone in front of us or not.
