How Far We’ve Come…

Sometimes, we only focus on how much more we have to go.
Once in a while, it’s okay to pause and see how far we’ve come.
Our destination/goal may still be far away but that doesn’t mean we haven’t made progress.

Yesterday during one of our breaks from school
(side note: teachers are God-sends. We miss them so much. And, some of us parents are finding out real quick that our children’s teachers weren’t lying about our children’s behavior….)
Anyway, we walked to a park and Nathanael got on the swing and promptly started swinging back and forth:

When I first saw that he could do this (fairly recently), I was so proud and so happy.
Because I remember just how much he didn’t understand the concept of swinging on a swing. Oh yet, how he loved to swing. Just look at that face!

In the big picture of things, swinging on a swing doesn’t count for much.
We have so many hills and mountains to overcome as we do our best to raise that little sucker.
But, I should also pause for a moment and look at how far he has come along since we first met him. And he has come a long way.

Grant yourself a moment of grace and, instead of seeing how much further you have to go, take a look at how far you’ve come.
We’re all a working progress and we’ve all made progress. Even if that progress is small, it’s not insignificant.
For a journey of a 1000 miles begin with a single step.

Just for funsies, here’s one of my favorite pictures of Nathanael (don’t @ me):

Oh. I’m also messing around trying to figure out new things to do.
In that trial run, I posted a (soon-to-be) Priest Joke (which are worse than dad jokes):

I’m sure that project won’t last long with content like this.

Stay connected, my friends.
The peace of the Lord be always with you!
